Earthquake proof building

DAY 70, LOG ENTRY # 11

First of all I am sorry if I don't the picture or the proof of our building and so I'm just write it down in detailed.

First, we decided the layout of our building, the materials and time.

List of Materials:
+ 30 - 35 Straws
+ 25x25 cm Illustration board

+ 100 pcs. Paper clips
+ 2 meters strings
+ 50 pins (I don't really know the precise number)

+ blood and sweat (I mean hard work)

We had trouble with our first prototype building because it has limited area, we decide that it would be the 23 x 23 cm, we didn't have the precise measurement for the straws. It had a weak foundation and it easily fell down, but on the day before the deadline for submission, we created our 2nd prototype, it took us 4 hours to make but worth it. The 2nd prototype or our final building is the formidable structure, it has the smaller area than the 1st prototype. We hypothesized that if we use the paper clips as the skeleton that would support our building. Also we decided that the building has a smaller area so that the paper clips has the higher chance to be linked together.

In testing our building, we ask our beloved and handsome(extra points, JK) teacher, Mr. Robbie Yasi, on what is the weight of the rice bag then he replied "more or less as the weight of the iPhone" and so we test that and it didn't fell down, for some reason the strongest part is the middle part of our building because it has small area, embedded with 3 or 4 paper clips. I think it don't have weak spots because of the same process we did for the top part of our building. For the strings we put it in the middle and upper part to support the rice bags. The pins are used as to bond the straws together in the base part of our building. We had 5 more straws extra and so we put it in the middle, base part like an X mark, more or less it was a design.

A self-change for the marine biology.

DAY 63, LOG ENTRY # 10

The Time was seemingly faster than last year, as I felt it like 3 months from now, "Hey, Happy New Year!" as for today we were launched by a question about the documentary we watch last week (Wednesday) and here it goes : "From the documentary we had watched, what would be the ONE thing you would change with your lifestyle?"

All I could answer is a huge pile of "NOTHING" because I am contented with my life and the title itself is kinda of a joke for me, I mean, I didn't eat any fish for the last months, like the main focus in the documentary is about the marine wildlife extinctions due to human activities. I didn't even eat Shark fins, didn't use any Manta gills for medication in my entire life and I'm here just doing nothing with my entire life and it is a good life I had. My life solely circles around meat and vegetables. It was good times...

Investigation

DAY 56, LOG ENTRY # 9

Here's the map for my Investigation

A.) The center river is called black river because of no rain for the past days or weeks. @ Location M (Well). It may be an elevated but since it is sandstone aside from that it is permeable type of rock. Some are elevated and some are not, 1 straight path of water and at the end of the river is mainly contaminated.

B.)Aquifers are : 1st is the Location M or Well M and Spring H because it has the most gathered water which is 50 mg/l. 2nd is Well I, which has 30 mg/l. 3rd one is the Well D and R2 has 20 mg/l. 4th one is Well N with 10 mg/l, lastly, R7 and R8 has 5 mg/l. Those were aren't mention are the limit of the vertical flow of groundwater.

C.)Areas were are contaminated are @ A, B, C, E, F, H, G, S2, R8, R7, R4, R1, Intersection of R1, R2, R3 ,R4 also R5 and R6.. Main sources are commercial buildings and factories, villages and Farms. Some of them are not contaminated because of there is no main source of contamination nearby.

"Kabo" for a change.

DAY 49, LOG ENTRY # 8

So, for this week challenge is to reduce our water consumption for 3 days... For some reason, people are reacting on what is "Kabo" it is a water dipper. We are not the kind of people who boast around being rich, it is okay to be rich as long we have the "common sense" up to date then there are shameless assholes who just cant keep their mouth shut and keep on asking "Sir, what is a Kabo?" ugh...

In my case, it was 10 scopes in the 1st day and so the next day I reduced to 8 and in the 3rd day I tried 4, so far, so bad same as my hygiene.

The question that our teacher launched to us are
1.)
How does it feel to have your water consumption limited to a minimal amount?
Very nice, it made me smell like a garbage can or worst a piece of shit.
2.)Is this something you can do long-term?
Nuh-uh... If you do it by long term, your hygiene would tell you to do it short term.
3.)In the future, with the amount of shortages we have when it comes to water, limiting your water consumption may be inevitable. What are your thoughts on this?
My thoughts are similar as being sarcastic as I am, like you can always hire someone to do some water gathering ritual to your household.

Slopes that are seemingly dangerous..

DAY 42, LOG ENTRY # 7

Well, well, well... Just what I told you about in the title, here it is:
What did I just told you? seemingly "dangerous"

Why it is dangerous? take a look at the top part, anytime right now, with some weathering agent, it could create a rock slide, mudslide(if the soil is mixed with water.. duh) If with out the trees, it doesn't have time to hold anymore.

What to do with this land ?

DAY 35, LOG ENTRY # 6

(c) Google

Here we go again...The property of "IF" situations that may or may not happen I.R.L because were just at the mid-class life including my relatives but it doesn't  matter to me anyways..so the question is "You were given a sizable piece of land by your wealthy uncle" so here are the properties that our teacher proposed to us..

+It is highly arable (good for agriculture)
+It is rich in mineral deposits
+It is found in a prime area (good for commercial use)

+It has a fresh, clean river running through it.

(c) Google
Ahhh, the birth of new innovation, well sometimes we could use our brains for a bit. What I would like to do with the soil is 1.)Rice-fish farming method, in this way I can utilize the fresh, clean river by putting some connection to the farm then add fish, in that way, it could double the earnings.

2.) If it is rich in mineral deposits ,of course, we could do mining then process some of it to make them jewels or accessories then boom! Profit.
(c) Google
3.) If it is found in a prime land, I would build my house there. Sometimes it is nice to rest away from the noise such as people that would annoy you in daily basis of your life. A little bit of this is pretty relaxing and nice.
(c) Google
4.)If I have agricultural goods, simple to do is build a watermill next to my farm, near the river. The very reason to why I wanted a watermill so that it grind my grains during harvest time. Just the same concept with the Romans in the ancient times.
(c) Google
Well, it is nice to dream, making up scenarios that may or may not happen in my life, especially the 3rd. As a word of advice from my friend:

"Hard work betrays none, but dreams betray many. working hard alone doesn't assure you that you'll achieve your dreams. actually there are more cases where you don't. even so, working hard and achieving something is some consolation at least."

Minerals and Rock Formation v.2 [Frictional Mineral]

DAY 28, LOG ENTRY # 5

So this time, our teacher told us to be crazy.... technically speaking it is about on creating frictional minerals and I came up with the crazy idea of..

Procrastinite - Common mineral that shares the exterior property of a quartz, smokey and edgy. This mineral has the hardness of Apatite(6) in the Moh scale.[some have different source (?)] Color is shiny grey, Magnetism is more likely a "nah" but there is an effect, with the luster of the same color.

Shutterstock

Effects are :
+You become for lazy for a certain duration.
+You usually contemplate about things or in short terms procrastination.
+Easily forget things that you don't actually like.
+Naps (To the point that you forgot what day, month, year it is)
+You get tired easily.
+You don't want to deal with other people because it's tiring.
+
Magnetism is great, to the point, when at hand, you will be attractive to the sleeping spots (e.g. Couch, bed and etc.) around the house.

But if you think of all these effects, it usually comes within the person, the person who is the true, veteran procrastinator..

There's the part of "I TOLD YOU SO"

IT IS A POWER NAP NOT JUST ANY REGULAR "NAP"
